Avanti
Avanti is an approach to collaborative working that enables construction project partners to work together effectively. The Avanti SMP document is available upon request from Constructing Excellence free of charge. CE can also provide Avanti consultation at competitive day rates, for organisations wanting to implement or train staff in the Avanti SMP.
Aim and Objectives
- To have early access to all project information by all partners, early involvement of the supply chain, and sharing of information, drawings and scheduled, in an agreed and consistent manner.
- To focus on people and processes, mobilising existing enabling technologies.
- Build team working and access to a common information model through the whole project life cycle.
- Improves business performance, by increasing quality of information and predictability of outcomes and by reducing risk and waste.
Key Activities (including outputs produced to date)
- Case studies: implementing the Avanti approach in many case studies prove savings and benefits from very early stages in the project life cycle. Examples of case studies include St. Helen project, Palace Xchange and Thames Water Utilities.
- Projects: a number of major multi billion pound projects have used the Avanti methods such as the Cross London Rail Limited (CLRL), AWE projects at Aldermarston, London 2012 Games, Westfield Shopping Towns Stratford Shopping Mall.
- Standards: Avanti has been part of the update of BS1192 pt5, BS1192 pt5:2007.
Programme of work for 07/08
- CE will continue to support Avanti by providing mechanisms through meetings and events which allows Avanti to continue to be developed in a controlled manner through the Avanti committee.
The Business Model
- Business Operational Model: In July 06, the Avanti DTI project documentation and brand ownership was transferred to Constructing Excellence. The Avanti committee will be made up of Avanti experts and companies who have already used and benefited from the approach. The committee will have regular meetings.
- Funding Mechanisms: Avanti is currently supported by the CE.
